Graduate Teaching Assistant, Graphic Design.
Jon is a designer, illustrator and educator at both Manchester School of Art and Nottingham Trent University. His practice is concerned with the stripping back of layers within images and the exploration of new meaning that results from this process. His practice consists of three stages. Chance, selection & juxtaposition.
Robert photographs people across the world. Often working autonomously, his compelling portraits synthesize many cultural turns – pain, beauty, faith, indulgence, ruin – within a series, a survey, that may continue indefinitely.

Untitled.
With their untitled collaboration, Jon and Robert aim to challenge the human constitution of hunting meaning within a sequence of image. Through sale and resale, batches of random holiday slides were sourced though the opaqueness of an online auction. They have been spuriously juxtaposed slide against side. Meaning is further tampered by overlays, that distort and change through digital manipulation that flays content and injects colour. This figurative striping transforms the analogue slide into digital image, all is depleted but digitally rendered shape and colour.
Placed into sequence, the narrative of the series is ever mutable, Robert, responding to the series, composed a story, his words are a solitary example of a mind left free to run between digital reproductions of dead times.

Jon Hannan
(+ Robert George)

Brez premišljenega reda sta jih postavila drugo poleg druge. V nadaljevanju sta pomen še bolj zabrisala z dodatnimi plastmi, ki podobe popačijo in spremenijo, z uporabo digitalne manipulacije in vbrizgavanjem barve.
