Lecturer, Interior Design.
Fabrizio Cocchiarella MA RCA, is a lecturer on the BA (hons) and MA Interior Design programmes at Manchester School of Art. Through ongoing collaborative practice as GRAPHICOBJECT studio, Fabrizio works alongside textiles designer Emma Hayward MA RCA. Projects aim to explore ‘spatial image’ through translating concepts in a way that ‘graphic’ becomes a spatial phenomenon. Working with ‘objects and space’ the aim is to design meaningful interventions from the presupposition of narrative and detail.
Investigating spatial sensibility as an inspiration experienced through the senses, and by creating a ‘graphic’ environment that converses with the imagination, projects aim to construct space as defining sensations and render them vivid.

Escape artefact – liminal ladder.
A spatial illustration, utilising traditional making skills, digital processes and media. Through encountering the ‘escape artefact’ the mind investigates the threshold between the mythical and the real. This spatial illustration invests a narrative into the quality of the environment in which it resides. ‘Liminal Ladder’ explores a relationship between mental and physical space, creating a mythical geography that seamlessly connects and hovers between worlds. In the absence of books or instruction the escape artefact becomes a way to comprehend that which is in our ‘minds eye’, creating our own psychological sense of position and scale within an environment. A ‘psycho-spatial’ encounter.

Fabrizio Cocchiarella
(+ Emma Hayward)

Predavatelj oblikovanja notranje opreme.
Avtorja delata s predmeti in prostorom z namenom oblikovanja smiselnih intervencij prek predpostavk glede narativnega in detajlnega.

Artefakt pobega — liminalna lestev.
Ta prostorska ponazoritev umesti pripoved v kakovost okolja, v katerem prebiva. Liminalna lestev raziskuje odnos med miselnim in fizičnim prostorom, ustvarjajoč mistično geografijo, ki neopazno povezuje oba svetova in lebdi med njima. V odsotnosti knjig ali navodil pobegli artefakt postane način, kako razumemo to, kar vidimo v svojih mislih, z ustvarjanjem lastnih psiholoških občutkov o položaju in velikosti znotraj okolja. Gre torej za »psihoprostorsko« srečanje.
